The bottom left quietly shows how many cards are on the canvas. Short notices appear at the bottom right, then fade without interrupting. As the window narrows, toolbar labels become icons before less-used actions move into an overflow menu.

What you paste is what you get: text becomes Markdown, a URL becomes a link card, and images and files remain real files. Open a card in a working window to read or edit while the rest of your canvas stays in place.

Drag the top bar to move and a corner to resize. Double-click any card to open it in a window over the canvas. Open several and the ones waiting move into the dock below; click one to return to it. The hairline along the top shows the card kind; its colours can be changed in Settings. Text is editable in place, and to-dos can be ticked without opening the writing page.

A selection moves as one while keeping its arrangement. Moving one card never moves anything else. ⌥-drag duplicates the card under the pointer. Delete removes the entire selection, not only the card under the pointer.

Drop a card onto another, select several and press ⌘G, or use AI Groups.

A group is a dashed coloured frame. Drag any edge to move the whole group. A card leaves only when its centre crosses the frame.

⇧⌘G ungroups. A group is also one stacking unit: touch any part and the frame and all members come to the front together.

Double-click any card to open it in a window over the canvas. Read, write, or browse there. Several windows can stay open; the ones waiting move into the dock at the bottom without losing their content or progress.

Pinch zoom affects the open content only: text re-wraps, web pages use page zoom, and images and PDFs scale independently. The canvas behind stays still. Press Esc to close the current window.

Double-click a text card to open its Markdown writing page in a working window. Press / to insert text, headings, lists, to-dos, quotes, callouts, code blocks, or dividers. Markdown prefixes such as #, -, 1., and > work too.

Return continues a list, to-do, or quote; press Return on an empty item to leave that block. Tables have Notion-style row and column handles: select a whole row or column, drag to reorder, or pull it into a new table. Images can be aligned and resized. Drag from empty space to box-select whole blocks.

Point to the left of a paragraph for the six-dot handle:

• Drag within the page to move the block; a blue line marks the destination and long pages auto-scroll.
• Drag off the page to create a linked card that stays in sync.
• ⌥-drag off the page to make an independent copy.

The first line is the note name, card title, and file name, so it does not move. One move is one undo step.

A link card is a real browser: click, scroll, and log in. Each card keeps its own history.

Right-click the address bar to make the current page the card's home, copy the link, or clear its history. Browsing identity stays on this Mac and never reads or shares Chrome or Safari cookies, passwords, or history. Pages pause when you switch canvases, and memory pressure automatically reduces how many remain live.

Double-click an image or PDF to open it in a working window. Zoom and pan there; PDFs remember where you were. Other files use the macOS system preview. Press Space for Quick Look on the current card.

Files outside the library—on the Desktop or in Downloads—are references only. put·here never moves them.

Canvases have two levels: a child canvas is a child folder on disk. Each canvas remembers its own position and zoom. If a canvas contains cards but looks empty, the camera moves to the newest card—the cards themselves do not move.

In the sidebar, click to open, double-click a name to rename, and drag to reorder or nest. The menu can write a briefing, show the folder in Finder, create a child canvas, or delete the canvas. Deleting a canvas sends its folder to Finder Trash and always asks first.

The toolbar field filters every card on the current canvas as you type.

Search with AI works across every canvas by meaning. It tells you which canvas a result is on and why it matched. It checks the 400 most recent candidates and says clearly when older cards were not covered. Chinese filter names work in the English interface too.

AI is entirely optional. Until you configure a provider, no AI requests are sent.

Grouping has boundaries enforced in code: it never deletes a group you made; same-name groups continue; AI may add cards but not remove them; subsequent runs send only ungrouped cards; fewer than two cards is not a group; up to 300 cards are handled at once.

Supported providers include DeepSeek, OpenAI, Claude, Kimi, Zhipu GLM, Qwen, OpenRouter, local Ollama, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Regular users bring their own API key; local Ollama keeps content on the Mac.

The rightmost toolbar button opens the AI work assistant. Close it completely when you do not need it.

• Insights: a few observations derived from the canvas structure, each with its basis.
• Chat and To-do: work with the current canvas and save useful answers as cards.
• Run status: the current action, progress, and a Stop button during AI research.
• Receipt: what the run did, what it found, and what remains unresolved.

Hover over a card and drag the small dot beneath it onto another card. A connection does not need a label. Click the line later to choose one of five relationships: because, supports, contradicts, leads to, or questions.

The current interface shows manual card-to-card connections within the same canvas. They are saved and can be undone. Automatic AI connection suggestions are not released.

Right-click a text card containing a question and choose Hand it to AI. AI reads your starting material, plans its work, and researches web pages in a separate child canvas, its workspace.

Every finding needs an actually cited passage. Visiting a page is not evidence; an unsupported conclusion stays a question. Open its source to follow the reasoning back.

A workspace persists across runs, with at most one active run at a time. The right-hand panel shows the current action, progress, and Stop button. When it finishes, read the receipt for findings and unresolved questions.

Research fetches do not use your cookies or login state. AI does not log in, click, or fill forms for you. Pages requiring login or browser scripts are reported as unreadable. AI creates and organizes outputs in its own workspace; your main canvas stays under your control.

Export a canvas as a share bundle and choose who receives it. A bundle contains the content you choose to export, so review its text and files before sharing.

Hosted publishing to a public link currently requires an invitation code and is not enabled by default for regular downloads. Sharing is not cloud sync: your original canvas stays on this Mac.

The app has no account, telemetry, analytics, or cloud sync. AI requests do not include file attachments, file paths, card positions, or the library location. If you export a share bundle, it includes the content you chose to share.

No provider means no AI request; Ollama stays local. Cloud models receive only the text needed for that step: grouping and briefings use at most 600 characters per card; chat uses up to 80 cards at 300 characters each; rewriting sends only the selected passage. Hand it to AI fetches pages directly from this Mac without cookies, login state, or browsing history, and sends at most 6,000 characters per page to the model.

When you add a link, the app asks that site itself for its title and preview image; turn this off in Settings. At launch it reads updates.json for a version number and sends none of your content.

Deletion has three safety nets: Delete →︎ Recently Deleted →︎ Finder Trash →︎ you decide.

Recently Deleted is a real canvas that stays in the sidebar. Restore returns a card to its original canvas, folder, and position when possible. If the old folder is gone, it uses the canvas's current folder and tells you. External files never move; only their reference card is removed.

⌘Z undoes 200 steps, including deletes, moves, groups, filing away, and renames.

Press ⌘, to open Settings. Change the file library, decide whether external files are copied or referenced, choose Light/Dark/Match System, switch between 中文 and English without restarting, change card colours, control web preview and performance, clear website data, and configure the AI provider, key, model, and endpoint.

Test Connection makes one tiny round trip and identifies problems with the key, endpoint, model name, or response shape.

On the writing page: ⌘B Bold, ⌘I Italic, ⌘K Link, and / opens the block palette.

• Empty canvas: new cards, paste, clear groups, show in Finder, Recently Deleted.
• Card: duplicate, copy contents, bring to front, Hand it to AI, delete; linked and link cards add their own actions.
• Selection: group, ungroup, tidy, duplicate, delete, deselect.
• Group header: tidy, file away, rename, ungroup, or delete the group and cards.
• Block handle: send to canvas or make an independent copy.
• Sidebar canvas: briefing, Finder, rename, child canvas, move to top level, delete.
• Address bar: make page the card home, copy link, clear history.

Every canvas is a real folder and every child canvas is a child folder. A text card is an ordinary .md file; images, PDFs, and other files keep their original formats. Recently Deleted is also a real folder.

Positions, groups, and colours stay in the app's data rather than littering your folders. Search indexes live in sidecar files. Back up the library folder and you have backed up your content; Time Machine is enough.

The default canvas and Recently Deleted folders keep their Chinese names on disk even in the English interface, because silently renaming real folders would mean renaming your files.
